OSI-CAN Programs
OSI-CAN provides Peer Support Groups for our target demographic; Military and Public Safety Personnel. Operational Stress Injuries / Post Traumatic Stress Disorder can occur when a person directly experiences or witnesses a traumatic event. This can also happen with repeated exposure to traumatic situations and details.
OSI-CAN provides peer groups that aid in the recovery and resiliency of the family as a whole. At times, adult family and friends of those affected by Operational Stress Injuries (OSIs) and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) often may be seeking or require connections and resources of their own.
Service Dogs NB
Every province in Canada abides by their own provincial laws regarding Service Dogs (SDs) and Emotional Support Animals (ESAs). Here in New Brunswick, we rely only on the human rights act, and we have no other rules or regulations surrounding SDs or ESAs. There are a lot of companies and businesses that promote and sell certifications, THIS IS NOT MANDITORY IN NEW BRUNSWICK. In New Brunswick you only require a letter from a healthcare professional (Doctor, therapist, psychologist etc.). This letter can be asked to be seen by a business, transport Canada or wherever you take your SD/ESA.
Here at OSI-Can we can help you navigate the processes to obtaining or training your SD/ESA. There are plenty of reputable places to purchase a trained SD/ESA. The cost, however, is not regulated and can cost anywhere from $10,000 to $60,000.
Your SD/ESA does not need a specific vest or identification collar here in New Brunswick. Be mindful that not identifying your SD/ESA you may get asked to provide your letter proving you are following the provincial laws.
